Love the post! We do not have actual children together but we do have our fur babies. We have buried four of our fur babies in the little herb garden next to the house. We wanted them close enough to keep an eye on them throughout our remaining years. I personally dug the graves and cried my eyes out making sure the graves were meticulously proper to show the respect due the love and devotion each baby had given us for their years. Thank you for sharing !

I just realised now that you also have a Substack, and I was immediately drawn to this post about your pets. We briefly talked about my dogs during the podcast chat, but I didn’t get to tell you how much I have identified with what I’ve seen you write about Ruby (including in song). We suffered a devastating loss in 2024 when our four year old dog Billie passed away, she had an incurable illness and it just felt like she took me with her when it happened. I wish it had been peaceful, but it wasn’t, and I kinda have been trying to get my head and heart back together since then. Instead of the never-have-dogs-again temptation, we have fought it the other way (also for the sake of our oldest, Tina, who was a sort of mother to Billie and does not deserve solitude), and as I told you now we have three, with Kleya and Pancho having joined us in the last year.

The wound will never really close, but I feel okay right now. And your words and music have also helped a lot. 💚
